B&B Carpets & Wood Flooring is an independent, Basingstoke-based flooring business owned and run by Rob Mearing with admin support from his wife, Sam.
Rob has always lived and worked in Basingstoke, training in the town in the late 1970s and quickly moving on to running his own business. There isn’t much in the flooring world that Rob hasn’t seen and done. That experience builds confidence, knowledge and an ability to problem solve.
Today, we supply and fit carpet, vinyl, real wood, laminate and LVT, primarily in Basingstoke but often further afield. We strive to provide a personal service that just can’t be matched by the big stores.
A big share of our business comes from returning customers and recommendations. We have customers who we first worked for in the 1980s, and today we do work for their children and even grandchildren!
But some things have changed in the time we have been in business. Social media today is full of people complaining about tradesman not turning up when they said they would, or at all, about workmanship being shoddy and about a fear of being ripped off. Customers are more wary and nervous than ever before. We understand that. We are customers too!
Being trustworthy in business cannot be underestimated. That’s why our aim remains the same as it always been – to provide a friendly and reliable service, to do our job well and to provide a service at an honest price. We have been in business for 40+ years and survived 2 recessions. We plan on being in business a good while yet! We’re not fly-by-nights or DIY-ers. We live locally and we’re at the end of the phone or email. Without our reputation, we have nothing.
